Members of Team Fulinkazan and SBG Bradford recently attended the annual SBG Camp held at SBG Manchester, joining coaches and students from across the Straight Blast Gym network for a weekend of world-class martial arts instruction, learning, and team building.
The annual camp is one of the highlights of the SBG calendar, bringing together practitioners of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and self-defence from across the UK and beyond. The event provides a unique opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced and accomplished coaches in the sport while strengthening connections within the wider SBG community.
This year’s camp featured an outstanding coaching lineup, including:
- Matt Thornton – Founder and Head Coach of SBG Worldwide, 6th Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
- Davey Grant – UFC Veteran and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
- Saul Rogers – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, Ultimate Fighter Winner, Bellator Veteran, and No-Gi European Champion
- Chris Coltrane – 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
- Glyn Powditch – 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
- Matt Inman – 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and Multiple-Time BJJ Champion
- Casey Jones – 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
- Alex Enlund – 1st Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
- Kevin Macaloon – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Throughout the camp, attendees took part in technical training sessions covering a wide range of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts concepts. The instruction reflected the SBG philosophy of developing effective, functional skills through intelligent training and continuous learning.
Beyond the training itself, the camp provided an excellent opportunity for members of Team Fulinkazan and SBG Bradford to connect with teammates, share experiences with practitioners from other SBG gyms, and further develop their understanding of the SBG system.
Events like the annual SBG Camp play an important role in the development of students and coaches alike, exposing them to new ideas, different training partners, and some of the best instructors in the martial arts world.
A huge thank you to SBG Manchester for hosting another fantastic event and to all the coaches who shared their knowledge throughout the weekend. We look forward to taking what we’ve learned back to the mats and continuing to develop our skills at Team Fulinkazan and SBG Bradford.
Train. Learn. Grow.
