A huge well done to Mason and Bilal, who both stepped into the cage to compete in MMA at the Strike Kings Interclub.
It was a great opportunity for both fighters to put their training into practice, gain valuable competition experience, and test themselves in a live MMA environment.
Taking part in an interclub is an important part of a fighter’s development. It gives athletes the chance to experience the intensity of competition while continuing to develop their striking, grappling, fitness, composure, and overall fight skills.
Well done to Mason and Bilal for stepping up and representing Team Fulinkazan/Hybrid Combat. We’re proud of the work you put in during training and look forward to seeing you continue to develop on your MMA journey.
Every fight brings experience, lessons, and another opportunity to improve.
A huge well done to Josh, who competed in MMA at Combat Challenge this week.
Josh put on a really strong performance against a tough and experienced opponent, showing determination, composure, and plenty of heart throughout the fight. Although he didnβt get the win on this occasion, he should be extremely proud of the way he competed and represented Fulinkazan Martial Arts Club and Hybrid Combat.
Josh was cornered by Fulinkazan Head Coach Mark Spencer, Hybrid Combat Head Coach Suleyman Cetin and Assistant Coach Jason Johnson, who supported him throughout the event and helped prepare him for the challenge.
Every fight is an opportunity to learn, develop, and come back stronger, and Josh can take plenty of positives from this experience. Stepping into the MMA cage takes courage and commitment, and he showed both.
Well done, Josh! ππ₯ Weβre proud of your performance and look forward to seeing you back in training and continuing your MMA journey.
Members of Team Fulinkazan and SBG Bradford recently attended the annual SBG Camp held at SBG Manchester, joining coaches and students from across the Straight Blast Gym network for a weekend of world-class martial arts instruction, learning, and team building.
The annual camp is one of the highlights of the SBG calendar, bringing together practitioners of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and self-defence from across the UK and beyond. The event provides a unique opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced and accomplished coaches in the sport while strengthening connections within the wider SBG community.
This year’s camp featured an outstanding coaching lineup, including:
Matt Thornton β Founder and Head Coach of SBG Worldwide, 6th Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Davey Grant β UFC Veteran and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Saul Rogers β Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, Ultimate Fighter Winner, Bellator Veteran, and No-Gi European Champion
Chris Coltrane β 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Glyn Powditch β 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Matt Inman β 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and Multiple-Time BJJ Champion
Casey Jones β 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Alex Enlund β 1st Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Kevin Macaloon β Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Throughout the camp, attendees took part in technical training sessions covering a wide range of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts concepts. The instruction reflected the SBG philosophy of developing effective, functional skills through intelligent training and continuous learning.
Beyond the training itself, the camp provided an excellent opportunity for members of Team Fulinkazan and SBG Bradford to connect with teammates, share experiences with practitioners from other SBG gyms, and further develop their understanding of the SBG system.
Events like the annual SBG Camp play an important role in the development of students and coaches alike, exposing them to new ideas, different training partners, and some of the best instructors in the martial arts world.
A huge thank you to SBG Manchester for hosting another fantastic event and to all the coaches who shared their knowledge throughout the weekend. We look forward to taking what we’ve learned back to the mats and continuing to develop our skills at Team Fulinkazan and SBG Bradford.
